On 28 October 2020, the man instrumental in bringing the MGB into the world, Don Hayter, was laid to rest. In a fitting tribute a funeral cortege of eleven MGB’s was laid on in his honour. The thirteen-mile journey from his home to the funeral venue was agreed in advance with Don’s family and was organised by John Watson of the MG Car Club’s and Chairman of the MGB Register. In these restricted times it was a discrete and proper compliment to Don and his massive contribution to British motoring history. We cannot help thinking if restrictions had not been in place, the thirteen-mile journey would have been road blocked with MGB’s.
