Silverstone Auctions next Race Retro Live Auction is set stunning compilation of classic cars. With hundreds of lots set over the weekend of Saturday & Sunday 27/28 March, it would be impossible to list them all. Instead, we pick our three favourite Brits on offer.
The 1950 HWM Alta Jag is the first of the three works cars with an impeccable race history. In 1950 it was raced by Stirling Moss, John Heath, Lance Macklin, George Abecassis and Rudi Fischer. In total, it competed in 15 events including Reims, Grand Prix de Bern and Grand Premio De Bari. It was sold to Oscar Moore in 1951 who continued to race it with great success registering it for the road with the registration number XMC 34.
A factory-built MG Metro 6R4. This one still retains the original chassis number, and it was upgraded back in the day to become the very first DAM 4100. Immaculate presented having had a thorough overhaul by David Appleby Engineering, including suspension, seats, belts, fuel system, electronic dash and MOTEC engine management system. Equipped with a 2.5-litre V64V Cosworth DFV producing up to 275hp means these are quick, as we suspect the bidding will be also at No Reserve.
Everyone’s favourite, an original 1967 Mk1 1275S originally delivered to Sweden and raced there before returning to the UK to race here. It is fitted now with a fully spec’d 1293S engine unit from Swiftune. Issued with FIA papers it has already taken part in events at Goodwood as recently as 2019. This has to be one of the most fun things you can do in a car fully clothed! What a great way to get in to the historic racing scene. We saved the best bit until last. It is also road registered. Drive it, race it and drive it back again. Great fun.
We are car enthusiasts and pride ourselves on supplying a diverse range of high quality vehicles, all the ‘best example of type’ available.
