Having been extensively damaged in a fire last year, the Capri from the TV series Minder, lovingly restored has been revealed.
The white 2.0S Capri famously appeared in the opening sequence of Minder driven by Dennis Waterman. In July last year as it was returning from an MOT, it disastrously caught fire. Luckily no-one was hurt, but on initial inspection the car looked to be damaged beyond repair.
More detailed investigation revealed the fire to be contained mainly within the engine bay, with subsequent heat transfer and some flame damage to the wringing, dashboard and outer paintwork. While it may have a looked a hopeless mess, it was clearly worth saving.
The Capri and we dare say its owner, spent the last ten months being cared for by Classic Car Restorations and its owner, Tony Collins. And the results are spectacular.
Tony Collins said, “It was a great project and to see it gleaming in the sunshine this morning is great”
